Dan Mathis, Jr.

CSSM Founder Dan Mathis Jr, CPP conceptualized and implemented the Contactless Security Screening Measure training course for security screening operators. Dan recognized that the security industry would have an integral role in the worldwide recovery from COVID-19, and safe security screening would be essential to re-opening. Dan developed a cost-effective online training certification, for all venues and facilities looking to evolve their security screening function to a contactless screening approach as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dan has tapped into his 28+ year career as a law enforcement professional and public safety professional in the United States and Internationally. Dan led an International safety and security training team that operated and directed facility security training
in the countries of Israel and Jordan. Dan was embedded with security professionals from Jordan, South Africa, Canada, and Great Britain and Cyprus.
Currently his experience as Chief of Safety and Security at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida, stimulated him to develop the CSSM certification. Dan is considered an industry expert in the areas of, facility emergency management planning, security screening, crowd management and control, and law enforcement partnerships. Dan maintains expertise and industry knowledge in
emergency management and facility crisis plan development. Dan is currently heavily involved in several safety and security organizations and initiatives with the International Association of Venue Managers as a presenter, The Florida Regional Domestic Terrorism Task Force, and The State of Florida Prevention and Awareness sub-committee. Dan is formally educated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Florida A&M University and a Master of Science degree from Saint Leo University in Emergency and Critical Incident Management. Dan is also a graduate of the IAVM- Academy of Venue Safety and Security. Dan was also awarded the 1997 Herman Goldstein Award for Excellence in Problem-Oriented Policing.
