Mayo studied Architecture at the University of Lagos and has an MSC in Facilities Management from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. Mayo started his facility management career at Davis Langdon LLP (now trading as AECOM) as the project manager for out of scope relocations on IBM’s SouthWest One joint venture between Somerset City Council & Taunton Deane Borough Council which aimed to deliver shared services to both councils and reduce costs and building footprints with a targeted cost saving of £400m.
He has extensive bid support experience with whole life costing and life cycle costing on several PFI projects which cut across the educational, healthcare, aviation, and railway sectors. He was the lead whole life cost consultant on DSM Roche Pharmaceutical’s expansion and modernization of their factory in Dalry Ayrshire, auditing all maintenance contractual frameworks and implementing all improvements.
Operationally, Mayo has advised and been involved extensively with the development of standards and the delivery of operational services communities across Nigeria; with his experiences covering over 8,000 homes in 14 locations.
He is a leading advocate for cost transparency and service excellence in residential estates; and has also developed the facility management blueprints for several multi-portfolio developers including Urban Shelter & Houses for Africa.
Mayo is the Chief Executive Officer of Principal Facilities Management, an operational service provider with a strategic focus on retail and residential facility management.
Principal Facilities Management is the largest privately owned market operator in Nigeria by portfolio size.
He is a member of International Facilities Management Association and an Executive Committee member of the Association of Facility Management Practitioners Nigeria. He is a member of the National Mirror Committee for the adoption of ISO 14001 International Standards for the Standards Organisation of Nigeria.
