Simon Esner

A chef by training, Simon Esner moved from the kitchen into a front of house sales role more than 30 years ago.
Simon’s dedication to his team, his perseverance in ensuring that they are provided with the besttraining, outstanding rewards and ability to build truly successful sales careers has led to the sales team to become one of the most stable teams in the WSH Ltd (Westbury Street Holdings Ltd) family. as well as in the foodservice sector. Simon has made it his absolute goal to ensure that his team is sufficiently equipped not only with the best skill set, but also the tools to achieve the demanding targets placed on them.
Business growth at the largest of WSH Ltd trading brands; BaxterStorey has been an indisputable fact in the last decade. Between 2012-2013 alone, Simon was responsible for two of the biggest contract wins the foodservice industry witnessed, beating FTSE global competitors. These contracts include the £100million contract with RBS and the prestigious contract with British Airways worth in excess on £20million annually.
Under Simon’s guidance, the business expanded into Ireland and in 2012 moved into Northern Europe.
To give some context, BaxterStorey Ireland started operations in 2007 and now turns over annual revenues of €50million and employs circa 4,000 colleagues. In Europe, Simon and the team have a planned approach to organically grow this market and establish BaxterStorey’s ethos of fresh, local food served by highly trained enthusiastic teams.
The business has enjoyed organic growth at a rate which has far outstripped the sector average. The business and industry market is at a mature stage in its lifecycle and for the last decade the market has grown at a slow rate of around 3% annually. Despite this, under Simon’s leadership, the business has enjoyed double digit growth every year, with some years enjoying organic growth of over 25% and an average over the period of 14% in the last ten years. Simons approach to business development was nationally recognised in 2013 with the award of The National Sales Award for Sales Director of The Year.
